Haiku and Senryu

For a English assignment, we had to write 10 Haiku or Senryu poems. Here are mine:

Haiku

Quiet morning light
I walk among the grey stones
An odd sense of peace

Distant rain falls down
Colliding with grass, stone, earth
Spreading vivid green

The ocean whispers
Secrets murmured in the froth
A grey-blue presence

Senryu

It's almost midnight
I stare at a glowing screen
Homework before sleep

We learned in pre-school
Respect other's opinions
Washington should too

Seven poems down
I must write 3 more poems
Going for the A

So small, but so strong
She waits, watches, plots, attacks
Mouse feels her power

Religion is great
Government is as well
Two rights make a wrong

Small children crying
Music, TVs, are blaring
These walls are too thin.

Don't tell me I'm wrong
When you don't have any facts
Politics or no.
